Yeah, I totally agree with you Micheal. I have always been told that the Pred is there to protect the lungs from any infection (which would immediately spread to the heart).

Still, as I say, it is a small price to pay for still being here, the weightloss however is a huge bonus!

Hows things with you?

If it's any consolation, Paul. My Dr. has some of the best survival rates in the US, and he doesn't believe in steroid-free post-heart transplant treatment.

Finally noticing the effects of my Prednisolone reduction! I've gone from 19st 10 to 17st 10 in a little over 3 months. I hope to be less than 17st by Christmas!

Regrettable I'm told I cannot come off the Pred entirely as after 23 yrs my body now needs it apparaently?

Went to UK for my one year exam. They give me a right and left heart cath, with an echo and xray. My biopsy showed zero rejection. Big Smile

pred never got my hyper, but i would find myself crying for no reason. i started on 75 mg twice a day. it gets better i am now down to 1 mg a day and feel no emotional side effects. my biggest problem was my joints took a beating.

I can't take 20 mg in the morning can i??? or do I need to split 10 mg morning 10 mg at night????

When I was on Pred I would talk to a post and if it didn't answer I would answer for it. Talk about hyper -- but then, I still talk to a wall, I just don't answer back.

My transplant is getting very close.

This is my first posting in quite some time. The last 6 months I have been waiting for different things to happen and it has been both an exciting and frustrating time. A friend who became a client of mine at the chiropractor asked me if she could donate one of her kidneys to me; I gladly accepted. She gave 13 vile's of blood and off to the lab it went. About 5 weeks later I got a phone call telling me that my friend was a very good match and that transplant might happen as soon as early Decembe…

New Here!

Hello Everyone,
I am new here so I just wanted to introduce myself. I had my liver transplant 16yrs ago in October. My name is Reagan and I live in Virginia. At 7 weeks my parents found out I had Biliary atresia. They did except me to live to the age of 2. I did great until the age of 10 or 11 and my liver started to fail. And when it did it effected my lungs and esophagus. I was on the list for 6 months before I got the call on October 6th 1993. My surgery last 24+ hours. When the went in they…

Liver labs not so good, yet again

I really was thinking positive and was sure numbers would be better this week, I kept telling myself that. I go today, had labs and visited with friends who were also their getting labs. Today was a great day. I come home, coordinator calls me says numbers are high again and even higher than before so I get to go back again next week for labs and MRI. I am not going to let this get to me though. I can handle this.

The other test about my disease wont be back for a week.

still waiting!

Still waiting with a MELD of 25....go up to a 28 as of Nov 22!
