update:
I was transplanted (Kidney/Pancreas) on Aug 4, 2009 at UW Univ. Wisconsin-Madison! Thank you Jesus! :) yes the transplant went really good and I am so thankful!

Well on April 13, 2009 I was added back on the Kidney/Pancreas list once again at UCSF...I will also be double listed at either Barnes Jewish Hospital St. Louis or Univ. Wisconsin Madison. I am grateful for 'very thankful' for my first 2 transplants:) Yes transplants work and amen for the lives that are saved!
What do you do for a living?
Nancy~dos/Property~~bug Nancy...love on Nancy:)
Transplant surgeons, doctors, coordinators and facilitators: What hospital(s), or organizations do you practice in, work for, or work with and where?
Back in July (2008) my tx Pancreas of 18 1/2 years failed (yes way bummer) but I am very thankful for that working 'Insulin' Pancreas that really gave me some GREAT health. In Nov. (2008) We went to UCSF (San Francisco) for a Kidney/Pancreas evaluation since my Kidney function was getting worse (July 3.3 creatine GFR 21.1). Since July my Creatine has gotten better each month (Jan.09 was 2.6) so I am playing the ewaiting game. We will just see how this all plays out:) Thanking God my health is good....yes I do miss my tx Pancreas :)

update 6/1/09....My last creatine was 3.2 bun 60 GFR 19..I am listed for a kidney/pancreas at UCSF and also being listed at UW (double listed). The Univ. Wisconin at Madison looks really good for me getting a k/p tx sooner than most transplant centers as the list there is a shorter wait period.

UPDATE: I recieved a Kidney/Pancreas transplant on Aug 4, 2009 at UW Univ. Wisconsin Madison...I am so thankful:) thank you Jesus :)

I have been blessed with GREAT Dr.'s and thank I Jesus Christ for allowing me to stick around, and be with my wife Nancy, now going on 24 years!!! Nancy and I were raised in Northern California (Chico-Paradise area) but now make our home in North East Oklahoma called 'Green Country'.....We have a English Shepherd named Anny (almost 7 years old) who loves the tennis ball & frisbee~~~and a cat who adopted us named Boots....

Thanks for your comments, Tracy and Nancy. My name is Dorothea, but I go by Dottie. Yes, I am very lucky that a dear girl in WV is willing to give me one of her kidneys that I might live a better life than is afforded by dialysis. I actually had 9 offers of kidneys from family and friends but all except 3 were eliminated because they didn't match my blood type or they had high BP. Two of the 3 had to lose a lot of weight before they could be considered viable donors. Down to 1 now....and she's working hard to complete the requirements.

Loved your photos and music. When I saw the drum set, I thought "aha! more musicians!" I was a classroom teacher for many years, and a music teacher for a few years. You look like super folks! Thanks for your comments. I appreciate it!

Nancy, I am sorry to hear about your eyesight. What caused your sight problems. I have a friend who has retinal pigmentosis Not sure is I spelled it right. We used to ride bikes together, before my illness took over.. He would follow me, could see my shape. The last time we rode together we had a blast. We rode 50mi. We both had a laugh, a heart patient guiding a blind person. Not a good mix. I will never forget that day.
You sound like you are doing well..I would like to play golf, but the twisting may irritate my back. I would one day like to try some lessons and see how it feels. Are going to the us games un Wisconsin? Have a great Thanksgiving. AnneK

Hey Tracy and Nancy my fellow dog lovers and transplant buds. My heart is fine, GREAT,, WONDERFUL. I try with all I have to give my donor all I have back. She (I think) has given me a better life than I had before. We run alot, and we actually have an 8k run this Sat. It is the Richmond Marathon, 1/2 marathon, and 8k. We have a good group of transplant runners comming together to run for fun, NOT RACE THIS ONE, and to raise awareness for organ donation. Lifenet will be there as well. It should be fun. How about you? What are your hobbies? Take care and keep up your amazing strength. You have been through so much. AnneK
